Our community’s strength lies in its diversity.

Climate & Diversity

Our mission to improve patient outcomes through research is nurtured by the creativity, ingenuity, and hard work of every member of the department. Thus, when every member thrives, we all thrive, and we get closer to fulfill our mission.  This is why, at the Department of Medical Physics, we acknowledge that our community’s strength lies in its diversity. Thus, we work to dismantle barriers and celebrate varied perspectives. We are committed to cultivating a climate where everyone feels welcomed and valued. We work to build open dialogue, trust, and collaboration as our cornerstones for academic and scientific success. Moved by our data-driven approach to science, we inform our policies through the continued collection of information from surveys and open feedback.

At the same time, we recognize that our Department, as well as our field, have a long way to go.  Outreach is a key piece of our efforts to ensure that future generations of medical physicists have representation of diverse perspectives and experiences.  We are committed to engaging with the community in Madison and beyond, cultivating an interest in medical physics education and research through sharing the achievements of our work. We invite you to join us on this transformative journey. Together, we can build towards our vision of an inclusive future in our Department and our field.
