Travel Updates: Domestic Travel Ban Lifted, New Policies for International Travel

Beginning Wednesday, May 26, 2021, the ban on travel throughout the contiguous United States, and Alaska and Hawaii, is lifted. UW students, faculty, staff, and guests may now travel domestically for business purposes. As always travelers (both UW employees and guests) are required to follow current UW travel policies. Concur will be available for self-booking, beginning May 26th.

Travelers must also follow both campus health protocols as well as CDC Domestic Travel Guidance. Both recommend being completely vaccinated before traveling. Face coverings should be worn when driving or riding with other travelers, and vehicle occupancy should be no more than 50 percent capacity.

International travel is still restricted. Essential international travel must be approved by an academic dean, vice-chancellor, or research director. Exceptions are awarded on a very limited basis. For more information on these restrictions, the waiver process, as well as international travel policies and guidelines, visit the UW International Travel Policy site.

When in doubt, always defer to the UW travel policy pages, and be safe!
