4D Flow MR Post-processing Strategies for Specific Neuropathologies

4D flow MRI allows for the measurement of a 3D velocity vector field over time. Systemic vascular diseases can be qualitatively visualized with the added benefit of probing blood flow velocities quantitatively. In cranial 4D flow MRI, targeted blood flow based parameters, such as flow rate, pulsatility, retrograde flow, or wall shear stress may be key contributors to the onset of more complex neuropathologies. Specific post-processing must be accomplished for such measurements. This seminar will detail work in applying advanced post-processing strategies for the measurement of intracranial 4D flow MRI. Topics to be covered include: the development, validation, and implementation of a semiautomated measurement tool, a novel approach to measuring respiratory-induced blood flow changes, and a multiparamater comparison between healthy controls and MS patients.
