Pulmonary function damage following radiation therapy treatments: assessment and mitigation strategies
John Bayouth, PhD
The primary goal of this research is to reduce pulmonary toxicity for patients receiving radiation therapy (RT) for treatment of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Pulmonary toxicity after RT in regions outside the RT treatment area is poorly understood but addressed in this work. Furthermore, the array of image processing tools applied to the 4DCT images are essential to successfully translate this work into RT practices beyond academia where the majority of NSCLC patients receive their RT. This seminar will present preliminary data from a randomized clinical trial being performed at UW-Madison.
